EP. 61 - DECOLONIZING MENTAL HEALTH | ACKNOWLEDGING SYSTEMIC INJUSTICE
Description
DISCLAIMER: This podcast is not a substitute for professional mental health and/or medical help. Everything shared here is from my lived experience as someone diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Depression, CPTSD etc.
This episode I share my frustrations with the mental health and spiritual communities frequent exclusion of sociopolitical issues and systemic injustices when discussing mental health and healing. I highlight the importance of decolonizing our mindset around healing and recovery and centering the experiences of BIPOC and other marginalized groups of people in our discussions around mental health in particular. I truly believe we owe it to ourselves and one another to be honest about ALL of the very real circumstances and societal factors influencing our mental health and emotional wellbeing. Please listen with an open heart and mind.
Sending love to those of you who like myself live with BPD (borderline personality disorder), depression, anxiety disorder, CPTSD (other cluster B disorders), those who are neurodivergent and/or from marginalized and BIPOC communities! I see you, I hold space for you, and I hope you know you and your wellbeing matter! Let's heal together!💗
